History
2000-2001: A Proud Tradition Continues
- Board of Directors adopts the NC School Readiness
Goal Team’s definition, acknowledging school readiness
as both the condition of children entering kindergarten
and the condition of schools attended by kindergarteners.
- Cumberland County is rated as one of the top ten counties
in NC for the most rapid improvement from 0 to 3 Star
ratings for child care facilities.
- PFC receives $15,121,047 appropriation.
- An official ribbon cutting ceremony is held on April
5. Representatives Hayes and McIntyre join 400 residents
to celebrate Cumberland County’s Omni Family Resource
Center "one-stop shop" of resources for families
with young children.
- Community members in Cumberland County join together
to implement the Cumberland County School Readiness Assessment. As with the statewide
study, the CCSRA is designed to provide Cumberland County
with a "snapshot" of the condition of children
and the capacity of schools countywide.
- PFC is selected as a pilot county for Newborn Hearing
Screening and the Local Interagency Coordinating Council
(ICC) of the NC Division of Health and Human Services
(DHHS) Division of Public Health.
- PFC acts as a catalyst with others to focus on six
system changes such as Birth to Kindergarten Education
Coordination, Health Coordination Plan, Transportation,
Family Resource Centers in Low Wealth Communities, the
Unified Subsidy System and the State of the Child and
Family Electronic Community.
