About Omni Family Resource Center

Several agencies in one location offering convenient access to assistance
and services to more families

Established in 1997 to be a centralized, easily accessible location for organizations serving children and their families in Cumberland County, the Omni Family Resource Center is dedicated to constantly improving efficiencies and effectiveness in order to best support the people who rely on its services. As both a direct provider of services and a center for broad-based information about community organizations that are relevant to children, the Omni Family Resource Center can offer families facing multiple and complex needs a unified “First Stop” destination, connecting them to substantial resources, referrals, and professional advice

The deliberate collaboration and inclusion that occurs because of co-location allows greater accessibility for families and creates a more knowledgeable workforce among service providers. An additional benefit is that when the building is paid for through contributions and rental income, service providers will be able to decrease rental expenses and invest more into direct services. The economies of scale achieved through co-location, shared equipment, training and meeting rooms, technology services, utilities, staff, etc. allow organizations to provide quality, convenient, and affordable services.

In addition to the tremendous impact the OFRC has on children and families in our community, it is serving as an important economic development tool for Cumberland County. Lt. Governor Beverly Perdue recently visited the OFRC a day after meeting with Pentagon officials to talk about the Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) process. She said the military looks at non-profit, community-based programs, such as the OFRC, as critical to the post’s strategic success. Perdue said, “I met all day yesterday with Pentagon officials, and one of my strongest selling points was the success of the Omni Family Resource Center in helping military families meet critical needs during the long deployments of spouses.”
