Does it feel like forever before your children settle down and go to sleep? This problem can be overcome by establishing a regular bedtime routine and sticking with it. Children function at their best when there are predictable routines in their day-to-day lives. With pre-school-age children tell them," it's time for bed," instead of saying, "you have to go to bed." If necessary gently take them by the hand and walk them to the bedroom. Ask them if they would like to choose a storybook and settle down by quietly reading to them. If night fears are a problem, install a night light for your child.
